Florida Commissioners Seek to Implement Tolls for those Traveling to the Florida Keys.

June 14, 2017

Traveling from Miami towards the Florida Keys has always been a rapturous experience for those who enjoy the invigorating thrill of driving through Florida's lengthy seven mile bridge at no expense whatsoever. That pleasant expense free drive towards the Florida Keys can soon come to a halt for non Monroe-County residents, as their County commissioners are currently delegating as to whether or not the implementation of toll fees for the use of their main highways is in fact equitable for their county. In concordance with the Miami Herald, Monroe County Commissioner Heather Carruthers plans to ask fellow board members on June 21st to support the exploration of a toll into the Florida Keys for non-residents to offset tourist impact, protection and improvement of water quality, and to support infrastructure investment to mitigate against rising sea level.
